Vandaag is het Valentijsdag: dé dag waarop we onze geliefde(n) tonen hoe graag we hen zien. Onze liefde voor elkaar tonen is heel belangrijk, maar we mogen ook zeker onszelf niet vergeten. Want hoe kan je van andere houden als je niet van jezelf houdt? Hoe je er ook uitziet, naar wat voor muziek je ook luistert, wie je idool ook is, wat je kledingstijl ook is en wat anderen ook over je zeggen: je bepaalt zelf in welke richting je je leven stuurt. Laat mensen zeggen wat ze willen, luister er naar en haal er de kracht uit om te doen wat iedereen beweert dat je niet kan doen. Net zoals Lizzie Velasquez dat deed en nog steeds doet! Lizzie is geboren met een weinigvoorkomend syndroom, waardoor ze niet kan bijkomen. Ze heeft een heleboel negatieve zaken meegemaakt in haar leven, maar besloot positief te blijven en haar leven niet te laten leiden door anderen en wat anderen zeiden. Ze besloot anderen te inspireren door haar leven. And she sure did inspired me!

Because how can you love others if you can't love yourself? No matter what you look like, no matter what kind of music you like to listen to, no matter who your idol is, no matter what kind of clothes you wear and no magtter what other think and say about you: you are the one who decides in which direction you want you life tog o. Let them talk, but listen to it and get the strength out of it to do what everyone tells you you can't do. Just like Lizzie Velasquez did and still does! Lizzie is a girl who was born with a very rare syndrome, which causes her to not gain weight. She has been trough a lot of negative things, but she decided to stay positive. She decided to lead her own life, no matter what the others say. She decided to inspire others by her life. And she sure did inspire me!

Lizzie Velasquez heeft ontzettend veel te maken gehad met pesters in haar leven. Niet alleen in real life, maar ook online. Zo had iemand ooit een video van haar gemaakt en online gezet, met als titel 'Ugliest woman in the world'. Erg confronterend, maar dat was het moment waarop ze besloot dat ze haar leven niet wilde laten leiden door anderen. Dat was het moment waarop ze besloot alle negativiteit in haar leven te gebruiken om alle positieve dingen te doen die ze wilde doen. Ik kan me alleen maar voorstellen hoe zwaar haar leven soms geweest moet zijn en ik respecteer haar dan ook enorm voor haar moed en haar manier van leven! So ... how do you define yourself?
